Sandra Garritano - Exhibiting Artist

Sandra's oeuvre has evolved from drawing on a personnel collection of experiments with materials and combining layers of texture, colour and mark making. The work, at first celebrates colour, but then complex shapes and lines with rippled repetition enhance the colour.

Sandra Garritano's works do not always have a narrative or document stories, instead, they are often just a moment of the abstract features of overlapping shape, mark making, strength of line, light and colour, or textured surfaces where traces are left by the pentimento of assorted marks and scratches. Lines are straight, curved or gestural, surfaces are dripped and scrapped all adding to a sense of accumulation.

Sandra Garritano

"I mostly embrace the use of a bold palette, colour combining excites me. I respond to my inner voice, pushing the textures and layers of the painting depending on the space I am in. It is the process that is important to me not
 just the destination."

You can see Sandra and her work at ART with a VIEW this Monday 1 October at Tamarama SLSC
